Our Work in the Community

At Team Michelle, we believe being part of the community is about so much more than buying and selling homes. It’s about people, connection, and giving back to the communities we’re fortunate enough to be part of.

This Daffodil Day, we were proud to get out amongst our local community and volunteer our time alongside Rototuna Rotary, supporting the Cancer Society and helping to raise awareness and funds for such an important cause.

We genuinely enjoy opportunities like this — meeting people, having a chat, sharing a smile and doing our little bit to make a difference.

Our involvement with Rototuna Rotary is just one of the ways we enjoy supporting our local community. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute, connect with others and support organisations that are making a difference in people’s lives.

For us, real estate has always been about people first. While helping our clients buy and sell property is what we do, our commitment to people extends well beyond the front door of a home.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, made a donation, shared a smile or simply took the time to say hello. Every little contribution helps, and together, those little things can make a BIG difference.

Last year, Team Michelle proudly hosted not one, but two Pink Ribbon Breakfast events in support of breast cancer awareness and fundraising. Together with our wonderful community, we raised over $500 for this important cause. Breast cancer is something very close to our hearts, as we have loved ones who have been diagnosed, and we understand firsthand the impact it can have on individuals and families. Supporting this cause is more than just fundraising for us — it’s personal.

The Pink Ribbon Breakfast is a nationwide initiative that brings people together to raise vital funds for breast cancer education, research, and patient support. It’s a chance to connect, share stories, and stand in solidarity with those affected. We were incredibly grateful for the support we received and look forward to continuing to contribute to such a meaningful cause in the future.

Papua New Guinea is a country with limited access to healthcare, particularly in remote areas. The YWAM medical ship provides much-needed medical services to these underserved communities, including general medical care, dental services, optometry, and more.

Volunteering on the YWAM medical ship is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Whether you are a medical professional or simply have a heart for service, there are opportunities for volunteers of all backgrounds and skill levels.

As a volunteer, I had the chance to work alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals and support staff, providing crucial healthcare services to those who may otherwise go without. In addition to medical care, volunteers also had the opportunity to engage with local communities, offering education and support to promote long-term health and wellness.

Volunteering on the YWAM medical ship was not only a chance to make a positive impact, but also an opportunity for personal growth and cultural enrichment. I had the chance to immerse myself in the vibrant culture of Papua New Guinea and gain a deeper understanding of global healthcare challenges.

About the charity Eye Care for Africa

Life is hard enough if you’re one of the 54 million plus orphan children in Africa…imagine if you couldn’t see?

Did you know there are over 200 orphanages in Uganda alone?

It is Eye Care for Africa’s goal to work with these orphanages and other organisations to provide eye care to some of the most marginalised groups in the countries of Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda & Kenya.

There are so many children whose eyesight is in dire need of appropriate attention – children with such conditions as cataracts. We are working with the teams at ground zero to help train staff and give these children the best possible eye care solutions.

My work with Rototuna Rotary Club

Last year we collected a total of 200 spectacles!

The Eye Care For Africa team travelled to Shinyanga, Tanzania and took 200 spectacles in their suitcases. On arrival at the clinic, they found 60 patients had slept outside the clinic overnight, so they could be first in the queue.

In a very long first day, 260 patients were checked for eye disease and eyesight problems, all 200 specs were given to those that needed them.
